Things To Come?

I came upon this creation by searching “peaceful” in the App Store. There must be something to put on my phone other than pedestrian utilities and frenetic games, I thought, something with more depth (pardon the pun) than Koi Pond.

Strange Rain is an interesting effort, an original sample of a new genre struggling to be born. Fish: A Tap Essay is another.

But to say that this is a raw and untried medium for the creative artist is to understate the limitations of this effort and others. New Age chimes, raindrops falling on my head, cloudy skies, twitter feeds, and a murky story line do not add up to anything resembling a good novel—or even a bad novel—in depth and value to the mind.

I applaud the effort, and look forward to refinements and breakthroughs, but this medium has yet to find its Homer.
